In Ireland, average temperatures in August are an incomprehensibly comfortable 65 degrees (PS: it's even cooler in Celsius), so maybe that's why they were all so keen on getting out of the house to get jiggy with the Celtic god Lugh during the late-summer harvest festival they called Lughnasadh.
New Jersey Augusts are a different story. Given the likelihood of hazy hot and humid with a chance of a shower towards evening, we'll probably not be competing in kilted feats of strength or duration. But music and song is a whole nuther matter. This would be a great time to dust off that tune you learned off that Lunasa CD of yours. Come on over to Flemington and give it a lash.

We meet on the second and fourth Sundays of every month, from 1-4pm, at Factory Fuel in Flemington NJ.
Bring the family out for this one; for a change, enjoy a little sunshine with your regularly scheduled dose of Irish music... and complement it with a baked treat and top-notch cup of your favorite hot or cold coffee- or tea-like concoction... or BYOB, if that's the way you roll on Sunday afternoons.
Great craic, lots of fun and talented musicians. Bring your instrument, your party piece-- and, by all means, the kids! (Musicians and singers, please be sure to read these pointers.)
