Before we dig in, I want to warmly welcome all the new members of this mailing list. Our group is quite a bit bigger coming out of March than it was going in, and for that I am grateful. Also, if this email was forwarded to you from a friend, please thank your friend for me-- and please sign yourself up here; it's easy, and I promise to be nice with your data. Just this newsletter, once or twice a month. Nothing else without your permission. |

There's No Such Thing as a Free BrunchCeltic Sunday Brunch is an Irish music program that airs every Sunday from 11am to 1pm on WDVR (and streams live at WDVRfm.org). I host on the first Sunday of every month and, when there is one, the fifth. (Exception: This Sunday, April 7, when Walt Haake will be filling in for me.) WDVR is a rare thing these days: a non-profit, commercial-free, all-volunteer station supported entirely by the community. Only twice a year do we pass the hat to ask listeners to show appreciation for the work we do: Once in October, and once right about now. Please listen to Celtic Sunday Brunch this month and pick up the phone to show your support. Loads of great CDs and other merchandise are available as premiums. For more info, see the WDVR website... |
Four to the Bar FansExciting project underway. Please contact me if you've got any old audio or video of Four to the Bar (now that I think of it, there's no other kind of 4ttB audio or video). Full amnesty for all submitted bootlegs. |
* Thanks as always for being on my mailing list; I know how much email we all get, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to stay in touch like this. Till mid-April, slán agat. P.S.: I get to missing you when it's only once or twice a month. Let's keep in touch in the meantime: |

New Video
On the March 3 episode of Celtic Sunday Brunch, you heard my interview with Mike Farragher, the author of This Is Your Brain on Shamrocks. Now watch the video, including some great music from independent artists.

Seisiuns
I do my best to attend these, but you'll have a great time regardless.
Frenchtown NJ: Second and Fourth Sundays at the River Blue Cafe, 1pm to 4pm.

Remember: Cancellations happen—please check in before heading out!
Recommendations
- Cut and Run in the Bronx: I met John Liam O'Shea at the Morristown NJ Writers and Artists Salon, where he read an excerpt from this, his latest book. It was incisive, profane, and hilarious. I've been looking forward to reading it since-- but for an Irish musician, March is not a good time to start anything except buying Tums. Now that it's April, I'm finally digging in. More later. Meanwhile, here's John reading. [Parental advisory: Explicit language.]
- Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill: The NPR Tiny Desk Concert: Two masters at work.
- Aly Bain, John McCusker, Mike McGoldrick, John Doyle: Dag, yo.
